Pitesti Jupiter City shopping centre hosting 14th Carrefour hypermarket in Romania

Investment was approximately EUR 20 M.

Yesterday, Carrefour opened its ninth hypermarket outside Bucharest and its 14th in the country, in Pitesti. The new Carrefour has a retailing area of 7,400 sq m and the investment amounted to EUR 20 M. Four hundred and fifty new jobs were created for Carrefour Pitesti, the retailer already having over 8,000 staff in its hypermarket and over 1,000 in the Carrefour Express hypermarkets. ‘We are very many partners engaged to this project and we are all sure that we will become market leaders in Pitesti’ Carrefour Romania Marketing Director stated during the opening of the Carrefour hypermarket at the Jupiter City shopping centre in Pitesti. Carrefour Pitesti Manager Robert Dumitrescu in turn stressed out the fact that the new hypermarket would give an economic boost to the region. This is the largest retailing centre in the area with a lettable area of 37,000 sq m, plus another 6,000 sq m opened in the second development phase in the next eight months. The other retailers operating next to Carrefour are Practiker, Mobexpert and Media Galaxy. Jupiter City is host to other 50 well-known brands including Thefora, Interfort, Leonardo, Bam Boo, or Nitsa. Jupiter City ahs 20 years of experience in developing shopping centres, residential complexes, business centres, logistic facilities and industrial parks in Europe. Also on Wednesday, Carrefour opened in Baia Mare the forth supermarket in town, under the Carrefour Express brand name, the retailer that also operates hypermarkets in Romania announces.
