Romanians to buy cheaper products in shops in two months
ROMPRES - Romanian News Agency - 27 Iunie 2008
The Romanian consumers will be able to benefit from cheaper products both in supermarkets and in the small shop chains in no more than two months after the signing of the Code of Good Practices, Romalimenta chairman Sorin Minea said on Thursday after the wrapping up of the talks with the retailers on the above-mentioned document.
'The completion of the talks on the Code means we have managed to lay the bases of partnerships between us and that we can work together on equal footing. At present, those taxes charged by retailers are no longer a criterion when signing a contract. If a producer refuses to pay such taxes, actually this thing can no longer bring about the end of the cooperation with the retail network. Furthermore, we have managed to state that the sale price also includes those marketing taxes and budgets charged by the retailers and the high price, therefore, doesn't fully belong to us, the producers', Minea explained.
He added the consumers will be able to buy cheaper products not only in the small neighbourhood shops, but also in the big retail chains, provided the price is only influenced by the producers and retailers, with no other factors interceding.
