ROMPRES - Romanian News Agency - 2 Iulie 2008
Romania's international reserves (hard currencies plus gold) went down, this June, to 26.881 billion euros, from 27.021 billion euros in end May, say data from the Romanian Central Bank (BNR).
In June, the hard currency reserves of the Central Bank dropped by 214 million euros, to 24.915 billion euros.
According to BNR, in June there were inflows of 1.368 billion euros, from the eurobonds issued by the Public Finance Ministry, the modifications in the minimum reserves in hard currency of the crediting institutions, the account of the European Commission, etc. The outflows stood at 1.582 billion euros, representing payments of installments and interests to the direct public foreign debt guaranteed by the state (including payments for the issue of eurobonds in 2001), payments to the European Commission, the modification in the minimum hard currency reserves of crediting institutions, etc.
The gold reserve continued to stay at 103.7 tonnes, but, because of the changes in international prices, its value went up to 1.966 billion euros, the Central Bank also said.
The payments, for July 2008, for the direct public debt guaranteed by the Ministry of Economy and Finance amount to 79 million euros.
