Ernst&Young: Romania is a key market for us

The Romanian market is a very important one to consultancy Ernst&Young, both due to the country's economic growth in the last years and as a result of the success scored by the company on a local level, said Christos Glavanis, the new regional managing partner for Ernst&Young and South-East Europe.

The E&Y Romanian-based office has been integrated, alongside the consultancy's offices from another 20 countries, into a new sub-regional structure called E&Y Central and South-East Europe (E&Y CSE) as part of a global reorganisation project of the company. 'Within the new region of Central and South-East Europe, Romania is an important market to us, both due to the growth pace and the opportunities it offers', Glavanis told the Business Standard daily on Friday. Glavanis, in his new position, will be part of the leading team of EMEIA region, which since July 1 includes the E&Y offices from 87 countries in Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa. 'We think we have chosen the moment for this change well, from an economic viewpoint and our clients' globalisation requires also the globalisation of our firm's presence', he stressed. 'When I first came to Romania, the local office had only 15 staff and now their number is close to 500. When we speak about the services and types of expertise demanded in the South-East European region, I think that among the most dynamic are the services of assistance in transactions and business assistance, including assistance on EU projects.
