Eureko in negotiations to sell Euroclinic
ROMPRES - Romanian News Agency - 8 Iulie 2008
Dutch group Eureko, owner of insurance company Interamerican and of the first private hospital in Romania, Euroclinic, is in advanced negotiations to sell the hospital, with the deal to be potentially concluded by the end of this year, daily Ziarul Financiar writes on Monday.
'We wish to attract an international hospital operator, and we are still in the discussion phase. We are targeting a development-oriented partnership, a merger with a larger group and we are in negotiations, which we hope will be concluded by the end of the year,' said Cristian Popa, CEO of Euroclinic.
According to market information, the list of interested companies includes an international group, with operations in Greece, with the value of the deal being put at around 30-40 million euros.
The information has not been confirmed by Euroclinic.
Euroclinic started operating in June 2005, following investments worth 14 million euros, and was designed as a private wing of the Floreasca Hospital. This was one of the pilot projects as part of the strategy to improve the performance of the Romanian healthcare system, with the aid of the private sector, a strategy approved through a government decision in 2001.
