Romania's Day at Expo Zaragoza
ROMPRES - Romanian News Agency - 14 Iulie 2008
Romania presents at Expo Zaragoza 'its own and of the entire Europe's jewellery: the Danube Delta,' El Periodico of Aragon paper reports on Thursday, on the occasion of the celebration of Romania's Day at Expo Zaragoza 2008 International Exhibition, whose topic is ‘Water and Sustainable Development.'
'This is not a metaphor. It has been chosen by UNESCO 'the landscape of the year' in 2007, the paper reads. The Danube Delta Biosphere reserve 'is one of the largest wet areas in the world, a genuine terrestrial and aquatic paradise.' Romanian pavilion's visitors 'will have a fascinating experience as this paradise is presented at a small scale, by using state-of-the-art technology,' the paper reads.
Thanks to technology, 'the pavilion's atmosphere can change any moment, from a peaceful view to a stormy one, from the silence of dawn to a sound and light show of the unbridled nature,' El Periodico de Aragon reports.
'The Delta's paradise takes shape from the perspective of a visual trilogy: earth-air-sky,' the paper writes. Thus, through a game of situations performed by the visitors, the pavilion is turning the natural space into a 'metaphor' which leads the visitor to understanding the 'profound' character of the world.
'This is a place we take pride in ...an unique place in Europe hosting over 2,000 species of animals and over 5,000 species of plants,' SAID Romanian Environment and Sustainable Development Minister Attila Korodi, who officially opened the events occasioned by the celebration of Romania's Day at Expo zaragoza 2008.
Korodi invited people to visit the Danube Delta through 'our pavilion which, by using a multimedia technology, is projecting on 11 fume walls special images from a special area,' reads a MMDD release.
'Zaragoza has become these days the symbol of a Spain in the technological avantguard of the effort to protect the environment and combat the weather changes. From this perspective, Spain is an important partner of Romania in developing its environment policy, as proven by the joint initiatives from Romania's pre-accession period and especially by the present moment, in which the two countries are partners within the EU,' Korodi said in the speech delivered on the occasion of Romania's Day at Expo Zaragoza 2008.
According to Korodi, 'cooperation in the environment protection field is only one of the fields making the object of a Romanian-Spanish relation, that reached an excellent level over the past few years. The frequency and quality of the political contacts, which we plan to institutionalize in the future into a strategic partnership - it can also be translated into an intense cooperation at a regional level, in which a secondary role is played by the transfer of expertise in the field of managing the projects running on funds from the community budget.'
The minister underscored that 'an important Romanian community that has chosen to live and work in Aragon,' can be found it Zaragoza, the 'multicultural city.' Romanians form the most important foreign community in Aragon, with over 55,000 people.
'Romania will soon open a new consulate in Zaragoza, so that in 2009 Romania will double its consulate network in Spain,' Korodi said.
