Meggle Romania contemplates acquisition of medium-sized local producer

German company Meggle, Europe's largest butter producer, does not rule out a partnership or an acquisition of a medium-sized local producer, after it ended its collaboration with local dairy company Lactag, reports daily Business Standard.

'We were manufacturing fresh products at Lactag, yogurt and cream. I think our collaboration was OK, but Lactag no longer meets Meggle's strategy for Romania. We are focusing on other products,' Meggle Romania Country Manager Murgu Waldemar told the cited paper. Since the end of the partnership with Lactag, Meggle has given up the yogurt and cream segment and is focusing on longer-term products.
