Seven investors sign up to race in privatizing Romanian helicopter maker IAR Ghimbav
ACT Media – news agency - 23 Iulie 2008
The country’s state assets recovery body (AVAS) responsible with the sell-off of helicopter maker IAR Ghimbav announced the seven investors in the cards: Czech-based Aero Vodochody, France’s Eurocopter, Israeli Marcovici Capital and Romania’s Rups SA Brazi, UTI Systems, Grivco and RO Mike Trade.
AVAS announced in April it plans to sell the 12,250,488 shares representing 64.89 percent of the share capital of the company. Four days ago AVAS prolonged the privatization deadline to September 15.
IAR Ghimbav will be sold through negotiation based on final improved and irrevocable offers. AVAS obtained the approval of the European Commission regarding this privatization. Offers from investors will be 95 percent assessed on the money they will pay for the stake and 5 percent on possible investments for development.
One of the compulsory conditions to attend the bid is a five-year business plan to include financing sources and the development plan of the defense production line. Attending the final negotiation will cost 25,133 lei to acquire the task book, 6,521 lei, an access tax and 3,062,622, the participation guarantee fee.
The other shareholders of the company are the Labor Ministry (7.35 percent), financial company SIF Transilvania (4.57 percent), other individuals (17.25 percent) and other companies (5.98 percent).Sell-off was resumed in April 21 after authorities failed to carry out the procedures in 2006 when the only investor interested in purchasing the company was France’s Eurocopter which did not submit in time the final improved offer.
