Bankers meet BNR prime vice-governor Florin Georgescu on new crediting rules
AGERPRES - 23 Iulie 2008
Representatives of the Romanian Bank Association (ARB) discussed on Tuesday, for more than four hours, with prime vice-governor of the National Bank Florin Georgescu and other BNR officials, and presented their stance on the new crediting regulation submitted for public consultation by BNR.
At the end of the meeting, held at BNR Club, results of the talks failed to be revealed.
ARB also held a technical meeting on Friday, following which an official point of view was outlined versus the proposals advanced by the Central Bank aimed at narrowing access to credits. The National Bank lengthened up to July 31 the public consultation deadline over the Regulation on limiting the credit risk for credits destined to individuals, where it is stipulated on a temporary basis the maintenance of a maximum indebtedness level of 40 percent of the individual's income, in case of contracting a credit.
The deadline prolongation decision seeks to give time to the bankers, so that they can present their official position in connection with the new measure viewed by the Central Bank, of adoption of harsher crediting conditions.
