Advent International invests over 50 million euros in dufa Deutek business
AGERPRES - Romanian News Agency - 1 August 2008
Advent International American investment fund has taken over, through dufa Deutek paint producer (Bucharest), Scan Calarasi company (southeast of Bucharest) with activities in the field of mortars and adhesives, on a 4 million euros deal, reads the Thursday issue of Ziarul Financiar daily.
Advent took over dufa Romania paint producer in 2005 (which in 2006 became dufa Deutek) in exchange for 18 million euros, after which it invested annually 3-4 million euros in expanding its activities. In March 2008 dufa Deutek purchased the mortar and adhesive producer Bengoss Comimpex, following a 19-million euro transaction.
The investment will allow the company to cover the entire territory of the country.
dufa Deutek will reach a cumulated turnover of about 65-70 million euros this year, after the integration of the two companies, a level twice as big as in 2007.
Dufa business was initiated in 1997 by the German group Meffert AG, which set up a joint venture together with a group of Romanian investors. The company's main competitors are Policolor, Kober, Fabryo Corporation and Apla.
Since its setting up in 1984, Advent International invested over 12 billion dollars and completed over 200 take-overs in 35 countries, the source says. As of 1997, the fund has been conducting a series of investments in Romania.
