Turism Felix records highest occupation figures in last years

Turism Felix SA based in Baile Felix spa (northwestern Romania) hit a record figure in terms of tourist circulation in last year's season, Bursa daily reads on Monday.

Thus, the tourist-days in 2007 stood at 441,295, out of which the Romanians represented 389,064 lei and the foreigners 52,231 - that was the highest level since 2001.

The tourist circulation in the current summer season is to reach a record level too. In fact, the average occupation rate in the case of the 2,374 existing accommodation rooms stood, over July 1-24, at almost 80 percent, according to representatives of Turism felix SA.

They also showed last week there were recorded on the level of all the company's hotels such days with an accommodation rate exceeding 90 percent, with the phenomenon to continue during the entire month in August, the same as in the previous years.

For the 2008 season, the novelty was represented in the Baile Felix resort by the re-entering in the tourist circuit of the Felix swimming pool, which became a modern and attractive recreational centre, the first of the kind in northwestern Romania.

The new pools are equipped with last-generation installations to monitor the water quality, as well as with aqua entertainment equipment.

Starting with this summer, the Felix swimming pool is to have six new basins equipped with modern aquatic installations and waterfalls or with such installations producing waves.

The Baile Felix resort was first mentioned back in 1763, but with its development having begun starting with 1885, with the first drilling here in search for the thermal waters. On the occasion of the world exhibition back in 1896 in Paris, the thermal waters from Baile Felix had won the Gold Medal and the Diploma of Honour too.

The resort is recommended for the treatment of the rheumatic, inflammatory, degenerative, post traumatic diseases, neurological, both peripheral and central, diseases, gynecological conditions and diseases related to the metabolism and endocrine conditions.

The local factors used in the treatment were the thermo-mineral waters (45 degrees Celsius), the therapeutical mud and the calming micro-climate, very relaxing.

The average annual temperature in the region is 10.5 degrees Celsius, with 21.3 degrees Celsius respectively during the summer season.
