All in all, the pharma market confirmed the previous evolutions. Thus, on the distribution channels, the retail market went up ( +14.6%) as compared to the hospital one which registered a drop ( - 9.7%)over the last four quarters, as compared to the previous four quarters. ” Part of this variation is due to the change of some national health programs from hospital to retail last year” the Cegedim specialists explained. On segments, medical prescription medicine went up more speedily than the ones without prescription ( + 16.3%, + 8.1% respectively). The prescription medicine market ( Rx) was worth 1.2 billion lei ( 333 million euros) in Q2, and the sales of over the counter medicine (OTC) went up to 298.2 million lei ( almost 83 million euros) over the analysed period.

« The troubles of the last months on the pharma market make us be careful about what regards the perspectives on a short term. Although the perspectives on a medium term are positive, the present blockage may lead to supplementary difficulties to the companies on the market” mentioned the Cegedim representatives. They estimated the market will close the current year with a performance close to the present one of OTC drugs ( 8%) in the context where the stoppage of prices influences the market of prescribed drugs, irrespective of the therapeutical group or producer and the impact of the new lists of compensated drugs is not felt yet.
