AGERPRES - Romanian News Agency - 25 August 2008
The top ten Romanian IT&C companies posted 4.4 billions euros in turnover, last year, Economy and Finance Ministry (MEF) web page informs.
The development of the local IT&C industry remained relatively unchanged in 2007 as compared to 2006, telecom, software and services bringing the highest profit to the Romanian companies, while the distribution segment registered the lowest margins, MEF data say.
Although the telecom sector is scoring the highest sales, the profits of all the telephony operators went down as compared to the year 2006.
Romtelecom the biggest Romanian land phone lines operator registered losses, whereas RCS&RDS that had reported a net profit eight times higher, two years ago, earned half less in 2007. But its turnover increased from 221.7 to 346.5 million euros.
Orange and Vodafone the two top mobile phone operators, along with Cosmote that ranks third on the Romanian market, also reported high turnovers.
UPC Romania the biggest TV cable operator on the Romania market doubled its net losses, meaning 68.1million euros. Nevertheless, the operator's sales grew by over 30 million euros, attaining 167.3 million euros.
Soft and IT services scored considerably high profit, last year, say data the companies supplied to MEF.
Forte Business Services, Siemens Group's IT Services Department doubled its turnover in 2007 after it had reported a drop of round 45 percent a year before, and when the profit grew from 0.3 to 1.4 million euros million.
Nevertheless, there are integrators that reported negative financial indices, the Ziarul financiar says on.
Intrarom one of the main IT&C products and solutions suppliers on the Romanian market registered a turnover worth 56.5 million euros, less than 63 million euros in 2007. As a matter of fact, the Company announced it would curb to half its target due to the lack of public projects and skilled manpower.
Siveco the biggest software maker on the Romanian market reported a drop in the net profit by round 500,000 euros, although its turnover was twice higher, reaching 49.6 million euros.
Softwin whose main shareholders are Florin and Mariuca Talpes also scored a less turnover, earning a turnover by 1 million euros lower and a profit by 0.3 million euros smaller.
The low figures are also due to the fact that BitDefender is a separate company now, and the IT security solutions are no longer consolidated.
The classification of the IT&C market distributors looks different now, Scop topping by 6 million euros its rival Tornado Sistems.
Next to come are Omnilogic and RHS Company that has recently announced it plans to buy ProCA (RTC) distributor.
