Black Sea holidays to get some five percent cheaper, next summer
Agentia Nationala de Presa Agerpres - 17 Septembrie 2008
Bucharest, Sept 17 /Agerpres/ - In the summer of 2009, accommodation prices in the Black Sea resorts will go down up to five percent, on the average, after negotiations conducted these days between officials from employers' associations of hotel managers and tourism agencies, present at the autumn contracting season of the Littoral Tourism Exchange.
Attending the opening festivity of the said bourse for 2009, state secretary at the Ministry of Small and Medium-Sized Companies, Trade, Tourism and Liberal Trades Lucia Morariu told Agerpres that it is for the first time in the past 19 years, in Romanian tourism, that prices get cheaper for tourist services, during contracting negotiations, this shows the maturity of the free market, based on offer and demand, the maturity of the tourism industry, she said.
'From prospective talks we have conducted with most operators in tourism present at the bourse, we have understood that those expecting a big contracting volume as early as this autumn are ready to drop the prices of accommodation up to five percent, for occupancy to stay high. At the same time, I have seen the interest of hotel companies to diversify their offer, to adjust it to competition in the market, we are thinking of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, and there are at least some ten new hotel structures which give up the classic service of bed and breakfast in favour of all inclusive,' said Lucia Morariu.
In point of accommodation infrastructure, Morariu believes 'spectacular changes will be seen soon, in step with the access to European structural funds by hotel companies.' 'Another purpose of our presence here is to launch and present employers' associations with an opportunity to carry out projects for getting funding from the 150 million euros offered by the EU, for developing tourist services, in Romania, ' Morariu also said.
Some 100 hotel companies and tourism agencies are attending the said tourism exchange, organized, Sept 16-18, in the Black Sea resort of Mamaia, by the Association for the Promotion and Development of Littoral Tourism. AGERPRES
