Alro invests 61 million dollars in technology and environment in 2008

The investment was in line with the company's strategy, focused on the production of high value added goods.

Moreover, they will strengthen the company's competitiveness, by an increased productivity and efficiency.

'Over the past six years, Alro Slatina has implemented a strategy based on the production of sophisticated goods, in line with the international markets' tendencies.,' Alro Slatina general manager Gheorghe Dobra said. Consequently, the company has constantly increased the deliveries of processed goods, turning, from a producer of raw aluminum into a supplier of products with high added value. The tight cooperation with our business partners will help us continue to offer products able to satisfy the needs of our customers. A series of new products, recently added to Alro brand, will be presented at Aluminium Essen exhibition in Germany, which starts on Tuesday,' company's general director Gheorghe Dobra said.

In 2008 Alro completed the upgrading of the strip mill, on an investment of 4.8 million dollars. The state-of-the-art technology implemented here is aimed at doubling the strip mill's capacity to 36,000 tons per year. Between 2002 and 2007 Alro invested over 210 million dollars in technological and environmental projects which boosted production from about 180,000 tons per year to 283,000 tons per year, while the productivity per employee went up 80 percent.

Alro continues the investment program in health and safety for its employees, with a 4-million dollar budget for this year. Moreover, the company allotted 2.5 million dollars to social responsibility programs that include fields like health, education, sports and religion.
