Economic crisis impacts on BitDefender listing plans
AGERPRES - Romanian News Agency - 30 Septembrie 2008
IT security solutions provider BitDefender's listing on the stock market will be postponed for 2009, as the international economic situation is not favorable for such an action this year, company representatives said, quoted by the Business Standard daily.
'BitDefender is still negotiating with possible investors, all financing options are opened at this point. We will consider the stock market listing option in 2009,' said Country Manager BitDefender Romania, Razvan Valceanu. Seven investors purchased shares in the company at the end of last year.
BitDefender representatives say the company targets 5 percent of the worldwide antivirus market, estimated at some €7.3 billion. The company's President, Florin Talpes, says he plans to employ a CEO.
BitDefender will focus on expansion on the Asian market. 'We are studying the possibility to open an office in Asia, most likely in Japan,' Valceanu said. The company has subsidiaries in Germany, Spain, United States and Britain.
Furthermore, BitDefender targets 50 percent of the local antivirus market, estimated at €6 million. The company currently has a 45 percent market share.
