Three BVB listed companies' shares see appreciations in 2008
AGERPRES - Romanian News Agency - 30 Septembrie 2008
Three of the listed companies on Bucharest Stock Exchange - Azomures, SOCEP Constanta and Erste Bank - registered quotation appreciations in 2008, a drastic year for investments on the domestic capital market, which saw declines reminiscent of the 1997-1998 financial crisis.
Chemical fertilizer producer Azomures Tg. Mures (center) was the most profitable company on BVB, offering a profitability rate of 145 percent since the year-start. The profitability likely to be gained on Azomures shares is even higher, of 345 percent, if the profit would have been marked on the maximums registered at the beginning of August, according to Intercapital Invest brokers.
Chemical industry company also took full advantage of the rise in prices internationally and marked a considerable growth in its turnover, at the end of two years of losses, with a record net profit of 132.23 million lei in the first half of the year.
Another company showing quotation appreciations in 2008 is port operator SOCEP Constanta (south-east, at the Black Sea) with a considerable growth in its turnover and in the profitability rate after a change in shareholdership in 2008.
Another exceptional situation was represented by Erste Bank shares, which showed a rise in 2008, on the background of leu depreciation as against the euro, whereas reported to the euro quotations suffered depreciations.
According to the brokerage house Intercapital Invest, the three listed companies share appreciation happened on the background of some unexpected or specific events, which have drawn the attention of investors on the capital market.
The other listed companies showed, on average, a good business dynamics but, at the most, they succeeded to resist when faced with general market depreciations.
Companies listed on BVB category 1st and 2nd reported on the first half a net cumulated profit of 3.47 billion lei and an overall business of 25.38 billion lei, a surge of 44.71 percent and, respectively, 52.61 percent compared to the similar period in 2007.
