BVB modifies index composition

The Bucharest Stock Exchange has modified the percentile composition of its indices, and the changes will come into force on October 1.
According to a press releases posted on the website of the BVB, the highest weight in the BET index of the 10 best performing stocks is awarded to Banca Transilvania (19.76 percent), followed by BRD (19.72 percent), Petrom (19.18 percent), Transgaz (10.83 percent), Rometrol Rafinare (9.19 percent), Transelectrica (7.19 percent), Antibiotice (5.22 percent), Biofarm (3.85 percent), Impact (2.99 percent) and Broker Cluj (2.04 percent).
SIF5 Oltenia has now a 21.87 percent weight in the BET-FI index of the five financial investment companies (SIFs) ; SIF3 Transilvania, 20.73 percent; SIF4 Muntenia, 19.48 percent; SIF1 Banat-Crisana, 19.35 percent, and SIF2 Moldova, 18.58 percent.
In the percentile composition of the BET-C general index, the highest weights will be held by BRD (19.85 percent), Petrom (19.62 percent), and Alro Slatina (13.12 percent).
Late last week, the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) modified its BET-C and BET-XT index compositions, while BET, BET-FI and BET-NG were left with their current symbols.
Excluded from the BET-XT index of blue-chip stocks were Alumil Rom Industry (symbol ALU), Altur (symbol ALT) and Prodplast (symbol PPL). They were replaced with Azomures (symbol AZO), Dafora (symbol DAFR), and SOCEP (symbol SOCP).
Included in the BET-C composite index were Transilvania Constructii (symbol COTR) and Teraplast (symbol TRP).
The representation factor of each of the symbols making up the BET, BET-XT, BET-FI, BET-NG and BET-C indices will be computed by BVB based on the closing prices of the September 26 trade session.
The Bucharest Exchange Trading Index (BET) was released on September 19, 1997, with a starting value of 1,000 points, as the first trading index computed by the BVB. The BET was designed to offer investors and the public a synthetic view of the developments in the quotations for the 10 most liquid stocks traded on the regulated market administered by BVB, with the exception of SIF securities.
BET is a weighted price index, with the maximum weight of any of the composing symbols being limited at 20 percent.
The Bucharest Exchange Trading Composite Index (BET-C) was released on April 16, 1998, with a starting value of 1,000 points, to offer an overall picture of the developments in all the stocks traded on the regulated market administered by BVB, with the exception of SIF securities.
The Bucharest Exchange Trading Investment Funds Index (BET-FI) was released on October 31, 2000, with a starting value of 1,000 points, as the first sectoral index of the BVB reflecting the developments in the quotations for the stocks issued by the five specialist financial investment companies.
