Vestas to expand in Romania
AGERPRES - Romanian News Agency - 6 Octombrie 2008
Danish company Vestas has announced its intention to expand in Romania its core-business activities of design and implementation of wind farms, sale and equipment repairing, with the first such plants to be delivered early in 2009, general manager with the division for Austria and Eastern Europe Andreas Thomas told Business standard daily on Friday.
'Such perspectives in the energy field are huge on the Romanian market, as there currently exist many development projects here,' Vestat said. According to him, a great development potential in terms of wind farms is shown by the Black Sea coast area.
Andreas Thomas also added that the development rate shown by the local market in terms of production of wind energy appears to be limited, in the context there exists no long-term perspective in terms of tariffs. 'In three or four years we might have problems in terms of access to the electricity transport network,' the representative of the Danish group explained.
He also added that he expects the first wind turbines of Vestas to be delivered to the customers on the Romanian market next year, but offered no other details.
The Danish company has a representative office in Romania, Vestas CEU Romania SRL, in Romania, starting this year.
According to specialists, the main suppliers of wind plants have begun to double their production, due to the high demand on the market. Due to the lack of concrete privatisation offers at the state-owned electricity plants, the budgets of the investors for acquisitions having remained unspent in the latest three years, they reorient towards the wind energy.
