Rompetrol runs branch in Kazakhstan

Agerpres special correspondent Nicoleta Gherasi reports: Rompetrol opened a branch in Kazakhstan that is active I service supplies and that will run at capacity in January 2009.
'The branch is already operating, participating in local tenders and it will supply oil, oil perimeter and equipment services,' the group's director general Dinu Patriciu said on Tuesday in Alma Ata.In 2007, Kazakhstan's state-owned KazMunayGas acquired 75 pct of the stake of The Rompetrol Group (TRG).
TRG is headquartered in the Netherlands and most of its operations and facilities are located in France, Romania, Spain, and Southeastern Europe. The group's main activity is in the refining and marketing (downstream) business, with additional operations in exploration, production and other services for the oil industry.
TRG owns two refineries (Petromidia and Vega) and approximately 630 gas stations in Europe (Romania, France, Spain, Moldova, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Albania and Georgia).
Rompetrol delivers oil products in Turkey, Ukraine, Croatian and the Republic of Moldova and has a five-year tanker leasing contract. The group has more than 8,000 employees in 13 countries.
Rompetrol Group will dismiss 2,000 employees in the next three years under the company's restructuring plan, Dinu Patriciu stated in Alma Ata.
'Under the restructuring plan 2,000 workforce will be made redundant in the 13 countries where we are present. The plan was already accomplished to an extent of 30 pct, with severance payments of at least six salaries,' said Patriciu.
Whereas at the end of 2007 TRG had 9,000 employees, 540 already quit the company.
According to Daniar Berlibayev, chairman of the Rompetrol Board of Directors and vice-president of KazMunayGaz, 'Rompetrol will be restructured because we want an optimum combination of activities' and all assets that do not fit to this purpose will be sold.
Among the companies to be sold are the air services supplying company that already drew the attention of several investors - Dinu Patriciu included, and a real estate company. The majority shareholder hopes to get at least 100 million dollars from the sale of these assets.
JSC KazMunayGas (KMG) is a national operator active in oil and gas exploration, production and processing that represents the interests of the Kazakhstan government in the oil and gas industry. KazMunayGas is held 100 pct by Kazakhstan's State Assets Administration Holding JSC 'Samruk'.
