Coty Cosmetics Romania estimates profit worth 1.8 million euros

Coty Cosmetics Romania, one of the main importers of cosmetics in the local market, estimates a profit worth 2.5 million dollars (or 1.8 million euros) in this fiscal year (July 2008-June 2009), with the business reaching 25 million dollars (or 18.4 million euros).
'The profit is 20 percent higher than in the previous financial year, and the turnover is around 15 percent higher, with semi-selective products making a significant contribution (perfumes with average prices and higher than the average), having a higher and higher contribution to sales, ' said Viorel Ognean, general manager Coty Cosmetics Romania.
The firm, marketing brands such as David and Victoria Beckham, Kylie Minogue, Pierre Cardin, Jennifer Lopez, Celine Dion or Adidas, holds a market share in the segment of women's cosmetics of over 30 percent, with Celine Dion brand contributing some ten percent to sales. On the segment of perfumes for men, the market share of Adidas brand exceeds ten percent, according to data from the company.
The firm is present in the market only with decorative cosmetics, with no body care products in its portfolio, reads the Ziarul Financiar economic daily. The total market of cosmetics grew some eight percent in volume in the first half of the year 2008, from the same period last year, and seven percent in value. For the second half of the year, specialists expect a higher growth pace, for the advance to stand at ten percent.
The main competitors of the company at local level are multinationals such as Procter&Gamble, Beiersdorf, L'Oreal, Sarantis and Avon.
