During the ECOFIN meeting, Ministers agreed that all the EU member states should offer, for at least an initial interval of one year, a protection for the deposits of individuals of minimum 50,000 euros, taking into account that the member states are in fact decided to increase their ceiling up to 100,000.

'We have taken today a series of measures to support the domestic capital market, by encouraging Romanian and foreign investors both to participate in the trading sessions on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), in a time when the evolution of the stock exchanges is affected by the financial crisis on the international markets,' the head of the Executive said.
Thus, in 2009, the profit posted by Romanian corporations from trading their participation shares on the authorized market monitored by the National Securities Commission (CNVM) will be exempted from charges. Moreover, in 2009 the revenues of such non-resident individuals from the transfer of bonds, other than shares or securities, in the case of such closed companies will be exempted from charges. The same it will be the case of the foreign corporations.
Moreover, as a supplementary measure to attract foreign capital, we have settled such revenues of non-resident collective placement bodies with no legal personality not to represent revenues submitted to charges in Romania.
'Such measures meet most of the similar laws in the other states of the European Union,' the Prime Minister said.
