Bank guarantee ceiling may be raised to EUR 50,000

The of Bank Deposit Guarantee Fund in Romania guarantees all sums up to the RON equivalent of EUR 20,000 deposited in any type of bank account, including the afferent interest.
Within days, the guarantee cap will be increased to EUR 50,000/account. Fund officials announced in a press release yesterday. Also, the Fund guarantees deposits in RON and convertible currencies held by resident and non-resident persons and quoted by BNR. The Fund guarantees the reimbursement of bank deposits owned by all private individuals, as well as those held by legal or non-legal entities, according to law.
