Romanian Shares Soar In Early Trade, SIFs Strenghten

Romanian shares opened higher Monday, with the five regional investment funds, or SIFs, gaining ground, brokers said.

At around GMT 0730, the bourse's composite index BET-C rose 7.58% from Friday's closing value and the Bucharest bourse's 10-share blue-chip index BET gained 8.01%.

The BET-FI index, which tracks the five SIFs, was up 12.94%.BET-NG, including the companies operating in energy sector and related utilities, roe 10.07% while BET-XT, which tracks the most liquid 25 listed companies, including the SIFs, was up 8.79%.The market's total traded value was 3.57 million lei (EUR1= 3.7690) at around GMT 0731.Investment fund SIF Moldova (SIF2.RO) was the top traded issuer so far Monday, with its shares up 14.71%.Other top traded issuers on the bourse early Monday were investment funds SIF Oltenia (SIF5.RO), SIF Muntenia (SIF4.RO) SIF Transilvania (SIF3.RO), and Banca Romana pentru Dezvoltare - Groupe Societe Generale (BRD.RO).
