Plus Computers Groups hits 40 pct growth in sales

Plus Computers group, a supplier of information technology and multimedia products based in the western Romanian city of Cluj-Napoca, hit 3.9 million euros in turnover January through August this year, which represents a growth by 40 percent on the same interval in 2007, when the company's sales stood at approximately 2.8 million euros.

Taking into account the evolution of the sales in the first part of the year, Plus Computers estimates approximately 6 million euros in turnover in 2008.

Gabriel Nistor, general manager of the company, quoted by Ziarul financiar daily, says that the evolution of the information technology market in the 2nd and 3rd quarter of the year was quite difficult due to the crediting conditions and blockages created by the delay in payments by the Ministry of Education for the Euro 200 Programme. Nevertheless, the factors which influenced in a positive manner the evolution of the financial indexes January through August were the expansion of the company's own distribution channel, the conclusion of new partnerships and the development of the existing ones, and also the increase in the sales online.

According to the representatives of the group based in Cluj, the main growth sources of growth of Plus Computers Group by the end of the year will be the growth in the notebook market. Moreover, the company estimates growth in sales of PC systems on the background of a drop in the price of some of the basic components such as the processors and the HDDs.

Plus Computers Group bets this year on a new niche sector, once with the launch of an online sales platform exclusively for software products, the www.azsoft.ro Web page.

The representatives of the company estimate a growth by 150 percent in the sales volume of software licenses, with the increase being mainly to the shop online, and a turnover worth at least 200,000 euros from the sale of software online.

The company estimates 30,000 single visitors by the end of the year.

In order to support the software sales department, the company has also a plan to launch a new forum to strictly cover this field, with the project to concretize, most probably, late this year or early next year, Gabriel Nistor said.

The company sells its products via own distributions channels nationwide, retail shops, ecost.ro virtual shops and azsoft.ro and working points in Cluj-Napoca, Targu-Mures and Medias (all in central Romania).

Plus Computers was set up back in 2002 and has three associate partners. The company sells information technology and media products and is a single distributor on the domestic market of the Gaussian products.

The main object of activity of the company is producing and trading computers.
