Scandia: Traditional products sell better
AGERPRES - Romanian News Agency - 17 Octombrie 2008
The rise in canned food sales could generate a 20-percent turnover increase for Scandia Romana compared with last year, with the representatives of the canned food company expecting a 60 million-euro turnover for 2008, daily Ziarul Financiar reports on Thursday.
In the first half of this year, the company posted an over 23.3 million-euro turnover, up 20 percent against the same time last year. 'Lately, traditional products are increasingly popular among customers, with canned meat being the main contributor to the turnover increase,' daily Ziarul Financiar quotes Constantin Sufana, economic manager of the Sibiu-based company as saying. Last year, the company reported turnover worth 50 million euros. Sufana added that over 90% of the company's overall sales come from canned meat, especially canned liver pate. According to the company's own estimates, Scandia Romana held a 62.1 percent share of the canned pate market last year, and 54.5 percent of the overall canned food market (pate, vegetable pate, and other food varieties), and expects a similar share for this year.
