ARB looking for system to fluidize banking market
AGERPRES - Romanian News Agency - 17 Octombrie 2008
Romanian Banks Association (ARB) plans to implement a system to fluidize both the Romanian and the international market, in moments of turmoil.
'We are analyzing the possibility and find a system to fluidize the market, namely the internal money and foreign currency flows, at moments of turbulence both on the domestic and the international markets,' ARB presdent Radu Gratian Ghetea said on Thursday.ARB and Romania's Central Bank (BNR) officials will meet and discuss the topic, next week.In the talks with BNR governor, the bankers reiterated the fact that the Romanian banking system is strong and holds a trump card vs the other systems in Europe, Getea added.
When BNR says that the Romanian banking system is solid and there is no danger to be under the attack of external turbulences, and us the banking community can see that no sign in the bilateral relations shows that there are weak banks in the system, we can draw the conclusion that the Romanian banking system is not in danger like others in other areas, in Europe and worldwide, Ghetea pointed out.It is for the first time in the history of the banking system that all the factors in the system converge, all the countries act alike, and to the same direction and by the same instruments, and therefore there are very good chances the effects of the crisis to be very much restricted, ARB official stressed.
