Bonds will be paid in Euroclear ( the largest system of regulating tradings with bonds in the world) starting Monday, which should facilitate access for foreign investors without the custody of resident credit institutions.
"Through this connection, access to potential non-resident investors is facilitated (they could get bonds on the basis of contract relations) to bonds issued by MEF on the domestic market and paid in SAFIR, without other contract relations of custody with resident credit institutions, partipant in the SAFIR system", the press release sent on Friday by the Ministry of Economy and Finances shows. The minister explained that "after listing bonds on the stock exchange market, MEF and BNR focused on insuring the connection of the bonds depositary (SAFIR), placed at the level of the National Bank of Romania with an international depository, well-known in the EU."
The minister of economy and finances and the national bank of Romania (BNR) modernized the systems and the trading platforms for bonds, to develop the infrastructure of the primary and secondary market associated to bonds and to insure the growth of transparency and predictability in the process of public debt management.
