Volume of T-bond issues, supplemented by 1.7bn lei in 2008
AGERPRES - Romanian News Agency - 23 Octombrie 2008
The volume of the T-bond issues in lei was supplemented by 1.7bn lei in 2008 versus the indicative volume announced for the current year, according to the information made public by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF).
The supplementing is owed to the refinancing of the governmental public debt, in the wake of estimating a bigger economic growth than the one forecast when the annual calendar was launched, and also due to the decrease in the foreign loans.
The indicative volume of the T-bond issues for Q4 2008 amounts to 7bn lei. The volume of the leu-denominated T-bond issues in the first two months of 2008 stood at 5.7bn lei.
The effective volume of the T-bonds that will be issued in October, November and December will be announced in the monthly issue prospectuses.
By end-2008 there will be five short-term issues of certificates of treasury (for less than one year). The dates of the issues are 24 October, 14 and 28 November, 12 and 26 December. The first issue will have an indicative value of 1bn lei, and the others will be worth 500m lei each.
As to the issues of benchmark T-bonds for a period longer than one year, MEF has scheduled five issues, with the indicative value of an issue standing at 500m lei. The dates of the issues are 20 October, 10 and 24 November, 8 and 22 December 2008.
The T-bonds are bought and traded on the primary and secondary market. The primary market is administered by BNR. Moreover, the benchmark bonds are traded simultaneously on the secondary market administered by BNR and on the regulated market of Bucharest Stock Exchange.
