BVB down 8.28pc, indices hits record lows in four and a half years

Quotations of the shares traded on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BV) on Monday declined 8.28 percent, on the average, as reflected by the developments in the BET-C composite index.

The largest declines were recorded by the securities traded by the SIFs financial investment companies, which went down 9.91 percent, and the shares in the energy sector and utilities, as reflected by their BET-NG index plummeting 10.95 percent.The BVB indices reached new record lows in the last four and a half years, tumbling down to their values of spring 2004. Trade on the BVB-Regular ring, the BVB main market, on Monday was performed in stock issued by 53 companies, two of which advanced in quotations, five stagnated and 46 dropped.BVB trade stood RON 21.5 million (nearly 5.83 million euros), while trade on the RASDAQ OTC market reached 505,438 euros.The BET index reflecting the developments in the 10 most liquid stocks in trade declined 7.84 percent, and the ROTX index went down 6.66 percent. The BET-XT index of blue chips declined 7.97 percent.The most liquid stocks were the shares in BRD - traded to the tune of RON 3.79 million; SIF5 Oltenia securities - RON 3.76 million; SIF2 Moldova - RON 2.36 million, and Petrom - RON 2.68 million. BVB resumes trading The Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) resumed trading at 11:10 am /local time/, the institution informs. BVB suspended trading on Monday again, almost one hour into trading, because the index of the five SIFs had fallen by more than 13%. The general index BET-C fell 9.06% at the start of trading, and the index BET - reflecting the trend of the 10 most liquid shares - was down 8.89%.The index ROTX plunged 8.01%, the extended blue-chip index BET-XT dropped 9.27% and the sectoral index for energy and utility BET-NG lost 12.40%. The latest suspension was decided on Friday, between 1:41 - 2:25 pm.
