Romania, Hungary, Poland allied against the attacks of the foreign banks

Further to the speculations from the interbank market, wounded were not only the Romanian RON, but also the Magyar Forint and the Polish Zlot, daily ‘Evenimentul Zilei' informs. The Premier will discuss these days with the Hungarian Premier Ferenc Gyurcsany, and the Polish Premier Donald Tusk, in order to establish a common stand against such speculative operations.
"I deem it abnormal to rescue the banks from certain countries with public money and then the same banks make speculative operations with the Romanian currency, in other words, make a profit on the account of the Romanian taxpayer," Tariceanu stated yesterday.
Thus, the three states have decided to join forces to prevent the attacks coming from the foreign banks which, saved from bankruptcy with public funds, try to make profit from the speculative operations against the national currencies. PM Tariceanu considers that such speculative actions are immoral.
"It is not moral what happens. Capitalism is not moral through its essence, but this crisis which started in America occurred precisely because the fundamental elements of capitalism were disregarded," Tariceanu said. The National Bank of Romania cautioned about three credit institutions which, alongside the foreign partners, participated to a failed attack against the RON.
