Zentiva: sales of 50 million lei in Q3

Pharmaceutical group reported rising sales by 111.2 percent in Romania in Q3 of the incumbent year, totaling 50 million lei, according to a release of the company.

Zentiva group (Zentiva NV) reported a rise of 17.7 percent of the net sales in Czech crowns and of 61.7 percent of earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) in the first nine months of 2008 compared to the same period of 2007.

As regards the development in nine months in Romania, the growth was of 2.3 percent , reaching 167 million lei.

The engine of the sales in Romania represented Simvacard and Extraveral medicines, for the medicines on prescription and Algocalmin and Antinevralgic P for the over the counter medicines.

At the same time, in the first nine months of the past 12 months we focused our attention to the efficiency and financial performance. Allowing for the development announced today, I am confident that Zentiva Group will fulfil the rising plans by about 20 percent in 2008 and that will continue to develop in the following years, despite the difficult economic environment,' said Jiri Michal president and general manager of Zentiva NV.

(10.1 percent) and Fervent Holdings Limited (7.6 percent). The management and employees of Zentiva hold together 5.9 percent of the company's shares. Other institutional and private investors hold a 27.2 percent stake in the company.
