All BNR's investments in foreign currency bonds have AAA rating

All Romania's National Bank (BNR) investment portfolio in foreign currency bonds in which almost three quarters of the central bank's foreign assets are placed, have AAA rating, according to data published by the National Bank.
More than 75 percent of these investments were oriented towards securities issued by governments and governmental agencies. A share of 17 percent is made by bonds issued by international institutions such as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the European Investment Bank (EIB) or the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD).
At the level of August BNR held securities, others than equities, amounted to the equivalent of some 20.8 billion euros, the advance in RON being in excess of 26 percent compared to the same period of last year. A share of 15 percent of BNR foreign assets represents given credits, whereas the placements in equity and other capital participations accounted for 4 percent of the assets at the level of August.
BNR reported for October a foreign currency reserve of 27.32 billion euros, up 1.29 billion euros from the previous months. This was the highest monthly jump of the BNR reserve reported in the past year, under conditions of strong inflows and outflows: inflows of 4.4 billion euros and outflows of 3.1 billion euros.
