Cluj-Napoca hosts international conference on modern power systems

The Technical University of Cluj-Napoca is playing host to a three-day international conference on modern power system, called MPS 2008, starting today. Romanian and foreign specialists are expected to discuss specific issues at the meeting.
Ph. D Mircea Chindris of the Technical University says attending the conference are renowned specialists from the US, France, Spain, Italy, South Africa, Greece and South Korea.
The main areas under discussion are modern transmission and distribution systems, command, control, and protection, as well as operation systems. Other areas include the energy market, the implications of the development of renewable energy sources, their connection to the energy systems, modern analysis and modelling structures in power system, electromagnetic compatibility, as well as environmental protection.
Part of the conference is an exhibition of equipment and devices for the design and operation of the existing power systems.
'The first edition of the conference received specialist acclaim, and we hope this edition will be another success as well,' says Chnidris.
The conference is organised by the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, in partnership with the National Electricty Transmission Corporation (CNTEE), Transelectrica SA, the Cluj branch of the FDEE Electricity distribution corporation, and Electrica Distribution Nord SA.
