A new redesigned 10 RON banknote
Nine o'Clock - 17 Noiembrie 2008
National Bank of Romania (BNR) issues, as of December 1, 2008, a new banknote having a nominal value of RON 10, redesigned, based on a press release.
The redesigning of the banknote is common in case of central banks and this takes place regularly, following the findings on their conduct in circulation and the incidence of counterfeits.
The new banknote of RON 10, redesigned, will have the same characteristics as the current 10 RON banknote issued in 2005, meaning the same sizes, the same prevailing colour, the same graphic elements. The only differences occur in relation to the safety elements and they consist in printing, highlighted, on both sides of the banknote, and implicitly on the latent image with the initials "BNR" on the back side of the banknote, the plane printing technique being used, and in addition, the transparent window has been restyled, so that two golden painting brushes were printed instead of the nominal value "10", visible on both sides of the banknote. The new 10 RON banknotes, issuance 2008, will circulate in parallel with those issued in 2005, which will be gradually withdrawn from the market as they use and as they become unfit for circulation.
