Infrastructure to need 3 bln euros annually in investments, in upcoming 10 years
AGERPRES - Romanian News Agency - 17 Noiembrie 2008
Romania has to allocate annually from the budget some three billion euros in the upcoming 10 years to infrastructure investments, announced Minister of Transport Ludovic Orban on the occasion of a seminar dedicated to infrastructure.
'Next governments will be compelled to provide some three billion euros from the state budget to the national infrastructure because the European Union funds are insufficient and can cover just a small part of our needs', said Orban.
He pointed out that Romania must continue its collaboration with the international financial institutions and emphasized that the European Investment Bank said it was ready to financially support infrastructure projects up to two billion euros worth.
As well, the Minister said that Romania muse use public-private partnerships to implement some infrastructure projects and among projects using this financing type are Pitesti - Sibiu Motorway on transport Corridor IV, Ploiesti - Buzau - Focsani Motorway on Pan-European transport Corridor IX, as well as Targu Mures - Iasi Motorway. These projects, to which the future, motorway type, Bucharest' ring road is added, are estimated at approximately ten billion euros.
