Voest Alpine investment launched in Giurgiu

A Voest Alpine investment for the construction of a steel machine parts plant, was launched Monday in Giurgiu municipality (south), in the presence of the Austrian firm representatives and of the local authorities.

The event was marked by pouring the first concrete measure on the foundation of the future plant.

Voest Alpine purchased in April this year 40,000 square meters of land in Giurgiu municipality on the former location of Giurgiu Chemical Plant.

Voest Alpine representative Werner Gotwald stated on this occasion that the steel machine parts, to be made here, will be used by the auto industry, in constructions and home appliances.

Steel semi-fabricated products will be brought from Austria and are to be mechanically processed with observance of pollution prevention measures. Finite products could be sold on markets in Romania and Bulgaria, Austrian investors being happy with the plant's location on the Danube's embankment, with future transport possibilities on the Danube - Black Sea canal.

The plant's construction is set to be concluded next year and a number of 60 employees are to be hired, to start with.
