Romanian stocks plunge at closing on the bourse, following fears on external markets

Indexes on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE) closed session with significant drops and dipped 3.5 percent on the sector of the five financial companies known as SIFs, as worries regarding the global economic situation surfaced external markets.
Liquidity idled at 10.36 million lei (2.70 million euros) today. The BET index of the ten best companies on the market fell 2.20 percent to 2,956.12 and the BET-C composite measuring all listed share minus financial companies lost 2.31 percent to 2,153.54.The BET-FI index of the five financial companies or SIFs lowered 3.51 percent to 14,236.31 and the ROTX index for trading blue-chips in Vienna slipped 1.72 percent to 6,539.66.
The BET-XT index of the 25 most liquid companies went down 2.28 percent to 290.77 and the BET-NG index of the ten power companies on the bourse dropped 2.96 percent to 365.12. European bourses also lost significant ground at the closing hour in Bucharest, pulled down by stocks in the mining and banking sectors, as fears regarding the global economy persisted. The FTSE index in London plummeted 2.33 percent to 4,110 and the DAX index in Frankfurt plunged 4.09 percent to 4,392.
The CAC40 index in Paris dipped 2.92 percent to 3,123. Shares of home builder Impact Bucuresti (IMP) were the most liquid today, with deals of 1.41 million lei and fell 14.84 percent to 0.035 lei. Financial company SIF Moldova (SIF2) lowered 4 percent to 0.60 lei, SIF Oltenia (SIF5) cheapened 3.47 percent to 0.695 lei, SIF Muntenia (SIF4) decreased 2.24 percent to 0.655 lei, SIF Banat-Crisana (SIF1) dropped 3.85 percent to 0.625 lei and SIF Transilvania (SIF3) fell 4.64 percent to 0.329 lei.
Drilling company Dafora Medias (DAFR) plummeted 10 percent to 0.0468 lei and Romania's top oil company Petrom (SNP) slipped 0.56 percent to 0.177 lei. Second lender by assets BRD SocGen (BRD) cheapened 2.44 percent to 8 lei and fertilizer producer Azomures (AZO) plunged 9.09 percent to 0.20 lei. As many as 13,663 bonds worth 2.03 million lei were exchanged on the market today.
