Buy bid for Rulmentul Brasov after 10 months of failed sell-off attempts
AGERPRES - Romanian News Agency - 20 Noiembrie 2008
A Spanish investor registered through a Romania-based partner company with the 12th auction for the takeover of the assets of the Brasov-sited bearig manufacturer Rulmentul (country center), after ten months of failed attempts to sell the platform off.
'Finally an investor is interested in Rulmentul, but we will not disclose his name for the time being. The bidder was disqualified because of the incomplete file, but he did not challenge the decision, but said he would go to the next auction session,' Vasile Godanca, representative of Rulmentul liquidator, Transylvania Insolvency House, told Agerpres.
According to Godanca, the bidder filed the 4.39 million euro bank letter of guarantee, but another two documents requested by the liquidators were missing from the file.
'In order to prevent an eventual challenge from the part of other potential bidders we disqualified this one too, but he pledged to produce the rest of the documents,' said Vasile Godanca.
The representative of the Transylvania Insolvency House announced that the next bidding session, the 13th, will be organized within one month at the latest and expressed hopes that at least a few of the nine companies which bought the task book in the ten months since the facility was put up for sale will show up at the bid.
The price for the sell-off of the Rulmentul platform stays the same - 40.39 million euros, far below the 70 million euros asked at the first three sessions.
The voluntary liquidation of Rulmentul was decided in June 2007; all 3,000 company employees were laid off with severance pays.
