Ministry of Public Finance issues state bonds and attracts 618.53 million lei

Romanian Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) on Wednesday placed an issue of state bonds Ministry of Public Finance attracts 618.53 million lei in an issue of discount state bonds, with the maturity in February 2009, attracting 618.53 million lei (some 161 million euros) from the market, with an average yield of 13.70 percent a year, according to data reported by the Romanian National Bank (BNR).
MEF rejected such purchase offers submitted by commercial banks for the bond issue exceeding the required yield level of 14.25 percent.
The state bond issues stood at 700 million lei (some 182 million euros).
The total offer of the banks reached 1.26 billion lei (some 328 million euros). The nominal value of a bond stands at 10,000 lei.
Submitting purchase offer there were 12 primary dealers: RBS Bank, Alpha Bank Romania, BRD -Groupe Societe Generale, Romanian Commercial Bank (BCR), Banca Transilvania, Bancpost, Citibank Romania, Romanian Savings Bank (CEC) ING, MKB Romexterra, Raiffeisen Bank and UniCredit Tiriac Bank.
