Financial companies or SIFs plunge 6.8% on BSE on closing, following pessimism on external markets

The Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE) mirrored the negative evolution of the external markets yesterday , the sector of the five financial companies known as SIF losing about 7 percent on closing, after fears regarding the international recession persisted.
Liquidity rose 43 percent today, to 14.82 million lei (3.87 million euros), from 10.37 million lei in the previous session.
The BET index of the ten best companies on the market lowered 3.07 percent to 2,865.43 and the BET-C composite measuring all listed share minus financial companies decreased 2.68 percent to 2,095.90.
The BET-FI index of the five financial companies or SIFs plummeted 6.78 percent to 13,271.34 and the ROTX index for trading blue-chips in Vienna fell 2.91 percent to 6,349.15.The BET-XT index of the 25 most liquid companies went down 3.93 percent to 279.34 and the BET-NG index of the ten power companies on the bourse dipped 5.21 percent to 346.10. European bourses also dropped massively at closing hour in Bucharest, as fears regarding the recession prompted declines for shares in the banking sector.
The FTSE index in London slipped 2.41 percent to 3,909 and the DAX index in Frankfurt lost 2.37 percent to 4,251. The CAC40 index in Paris lowered 3.25 percent to 2,987. Romania's top oil company Petrom (SNP) was the most liquid stock today, with deals of 1.85 million lei and dipped 3.95 percent to 0.17 lei. Financial company SIF Muntenia (SIF4) fell 6.11 percent to 0.615 lei, SIF Moldova (SIF2) plunged 7.50 percent to 0.555 lei, SIF Oltenia (SIF5) plummeted 7.91 percent to 0.64 lei, SIF Transilvania (SIF3) cheapened 6.99 percent to 0.306 lei and SIF Banat-Crisana (SIF1) lost 5.60 percent to 0.59 lei.
Impact Bucuresti (IMP) decreased 10 percent to 0.0315 lei and electricity transporter Transelectrica (TEL) slipped 2.44 percent to 12 lei. Second lender by assets BRD SocGen (BRD) dropped 2.50 percent to 7.80 lei and Austrian lender Erste Bank (EBS) fell 5.20 percent to 51 lei. As many as 30,400 bonds were traded on the market today, worth 3.96 million lei, and 50 state securities of 460,861 lei.
