Investments in renewable energy solution for economic growth in times of crisis
AGERPRES - Romanian News Agency - 27 Noiembrie 2008
Investments to improve energy efficiency and develop renewable resources could support the economic growth during such times of crisis, Chairman with the Romanian Association for Preserving Energy (ARCE) Tudor Constantinescu told Business Standard on Tuesday.
He also showed, on the occasion of an interview to the abovementioned daily, which are the benefits of such multiple investments, from the reduction of the import of energy resources and the diminishing of the impact on the environment to the increase in the competitiveness in industry, by cutting specific consumption and developing labour force. Moreover, there appear new products and new technologies in the energy efficiency and renewable resources field, with new jobs being thus created and with export capacities being increased.
All these, especially in such intervals of economic crisis, the ARCE Chairman underlined, could create business opportunities, development and economic relaunch of such new sectors carrying a great development potential.
Referring further to the huge investments in Romania announced in the renewable energy field, Tudor Constantinescu appreciated there exists the risk Romania to become a market where such equipment worth billion euros to be absorbed, unless the markets attracts instead investors to make the equipment here.
'We can offer favourable conditions both for the election of the foreign investors and for the training of some domestic producers which could become important suppliers later,' the ARCE officials said.
He also said that, in order to stimulate local industry, the state could grant subsidies to the producers, especially for research, as the Danish did.
'There also exists the possibility to cofinance such projects via audits. The European Commission tolerates such schemes and thus we can stimulate both domestic producers and foreign investors who want to develop production capacities in this field and create jobs,' Constantinescu said.
In his opinion, 'there are going to be created thousands of new jobs.'
