AGERPRES - Romanian News Agency - 28 Noiembrie 2008
Romanian companies AROBS Transilvania Software and TeamNet International are among the top 100 companies included this year in Deloitte Technology Fast 500 EMEA, which recognizes technology companies that have achieved the fastest rates of annual revenue growth in Europe, the Middle East and Africa during the past five years.
According to a Deloitte Romania release, remitted to AGERPRES, Cluj-based AROBS Transilvania Software ranked 49th, with a growth rate of 2,722.34 percent, whereas Bucharest TeamNet International ranked 71st (plus 2,028.14 percent).
Deloitte Technology Fast 500 EMEA ranks high-growth technology companies both public and private in 23 countries in EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa), which reported revenues of minimum 50,000 euros in the first year of activity. Fast 500 is compiled by Global Technology, Media $ Telecommunications (TMT) Group within Deloitte.
Romania joined the project as a first, this year, marking a successful debut through three companies included in Central Europe Top 50: AROBS Transilvania Software (ranked 5th), TeamNet International (7th) and LASTING Software in Timisoara (38th).
'The most recent result is without doubt a genuine performance for the technology industry in Romania. With two companies in the Top 100, Romania sends a clear signal all over the world. So far, we were one of the most important outsourcing destinations in the world; now we prove that we have a significant potential on the intellectual property segment as well, a potential at the level of the Central Europe', underscored George Mucibabici, Deloitte Romania President.
Top 100 also includes three companies from Poland, two from Hungary, two from the Czech Republic and a company each from Croatia and Slovakia. Best placed Central European company is Blue Media, with a growth rate of 10,026.89 percent. Ranked 6th in the final classification, the Polish firm adjudicated the second greatest performance posted by a Central European company in the history of this top.
'Weak global economy outlook for next year will also have an echo over this industry. Nonetheless, Romania is still a country with a limited penetration rate of the technology, representing a disadvantage for its economic development', continued Mucibabici.
Software sector further dominates the top, being represented by 197 companies of the total of 500. It is followed by the Internet/Media companies (98) and Telecommunications/Networking (64).
