Statkraft takes interest in Romania's methane and water powered plants
AGERPRES - Romanian News Agency - 8 Decembrie 2008
The Norwegian Statkraft company, Europe's largest renewable energy maker, wants to invest in Romania's 400-800 MW Greenfield natural gas powered plants, and in hydro power plants putting out over 50 MW, also looking for opportunities on the solar energy market, the Business Standard informs on Monday
Nevertheless, the Romanian laws must be simplified for the market to become interesting for more investors, Statkraft Romania manager Terje Martin Sletten told the Business Standard.
The company has an investment plan worth 10 billion euros for Europe by 2015. In Statkraft's strategy to enter Southeastern Europe, Romania is considered to be 'one of the most interesting' countries in terms of hydro energy production possibilities.
The Norwegian group owns 164 hydro power plants, three wind energy farms of some 245 MW, and three natural gas powered plants, with an annual average energy production of 49 TWh, the Business Standard concluded.
