First wind turbine built by CEZ in Dobrogea to be installed in May
AGERPRES - Romanian News Agency - 9 Decembrie 2008
The first wind turbine built by CEZ in Dobrogea (southeastern Romania) will be installed in May next year, the daily Ziarul Financiar cites Ondrej Safar, project manager with CEZ Romania as saying.
The CEZ official said his company had already initiated the construction works for the platform on which the turbines were to be installed. He added the company would build some 120 kilometers of road so that the equipment could be transported to the place where it should be installed. The foundation works will be initiated as the road is being built.
The equipment will be shipped to the Constanta port (southeastern Romania) and afterwards transported to the construction site. The giant turbines will be installed at Fantanele and Cogealac in the Constanta County. According to the project, as many as 240 turbines will be installed in these villages.
The 600-MW wind power project developed by the Czech company CEZ in Dobrogea is beginning to take shape after some 100 people have been already sent to the region, with at least several hundreds to arrive for supporting the project team. In the end, only 30 persons will remain to monitor the largest onshore wind park in Europe.
The main partners are the French company Eneria, which will manage the project, Viarom, to administer the construction works and Energobit, in charge of the electrical works.
The entire project is valued at some 1.1 billion euros, due to be completed end-2010.
The equipment, that is the wind turbines, are supplied based on a contract concluded with the industrial giant General Electric covering the first stage of the project, namely 139 turbines with a 2.5-MW capacity. This stage is due to be completed end-2009. General Electric will ensure the turbines' transport, their installation and will provide the technical details regarding the road quality.
The turbines used in this project are some 100-meters high, while the rotor blade diameter is of similar size.
