Transelectrica to finalize commissioning of interconnection line with Hungary on 12 December
AGERPRES - Romanian News Agency - 9 Decembrie 2008
Transelectrica and Mavir (Hungary) will officially commission the aerial interconnection power line between Arad and Bekescsaba on 12 December, reads a Transelectrica release for Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB).
The project, which cost 25.7 million euro, has a total length of 94 km, out of which 56 km on Romania's soil and 38 km on Hungary's soil.
The 400 kV Arad - Nadab - Bekescsaba line is the first one built after some 20 years and represented one of the priorities of the government programme in electricity, reads the quoted release.
The project includes a 400kV power station at Nadab, 400 kV aerial power lines between Arad and Nadab (34 km) and Nadab and Bekescsaba (60 km, out of which 22 km in Romania).
According to Transelectrica, the new line secures electricity for an area of some 1,000 MW in the north-west of Romania's electricity system, increasing voltage stability in the area and thus contributing to the reduction in the power and energy losses. The line also strengthens the interconnection network in Western Romania, having as consequence the possibility of increasing the energy transit between Romania and Hungary. The project improves the safety in operation and quality of the transport in electricity systems in Romania and Hungary. Moreover, the new project reserves the current interconnection (the 400 kV Arad - Sandorfalva line) increasing the safety of import/export contracts on the European energy market.
Attending the 12 December event will be officials with the Ministry of Economy and Finance, local authorities, managers of Transelectrica and Mavir, representatives of contractors, consultants and financing institutions and partners of the two companies.
