AGERPRES - Romanian News Agency - 12 Decembrie 2008
Rominserv, which is the general contractor of Oil Group Rompetrol, has recently opened a subsidiary in Kazakhstan, which it anticipates would attain a turnover worth some 30 million dollars in 2009, the company announced on Thursday.
'Rominserv Kazakhstan will allow the supply of turnkey solutions (industrial maintenance services, project management, technical and technological development services) as well as the establishment of a platform for the expansion of the Rompetrol Group services to the Caspian Sea area (Rompetrol Quality Control, Ecomaster). The expertise and experience gained by Rominserv in the seven years of activity in the Group's two refineries represent a major edge in strengthening the company's position in the Kazakh market', Rominserv CEO Victor Popovici said.
At an early phase, the subsidiary will have 15 Romanian and Kazakh staff; the subsidiary plans to carry out specialised works both for the local clients and for various companies of Kazmunaigaz Group (KMG) - the Atyrau and Shymkent refineries, KazTransGaz and KazTransOil. The Astana-based Rominserv Kazakhstan will also supply industrial reinforcements made at Rominserv Valves Iaifo based in Zalau (northern Romania).
'KMG has identified a range of investment projects to enhance the refining capacity, improve the product quality to the Euro-standards and to obtain quality raw material required for the petro-chemical production. To this effect, Rominserv can be a reliable partner, as the company has the know-how relevant to similar projects conducted at Petromidia refinery', Popovici stressed.
Rominserv anticipates it will post roughly 165 million dollars in turnover this year, up by 40 percent on the 2007 results.
The company owns three working points in Romania - in the Black Sea coast town of Navodari (southeastern Romania), Ploiesti (southern Romania) and Zalau - and it operates two subsidiaries called Palplast in the central Sibiu city and Rominservices Therm based in the Black Sea port of Mangalia.
Rompetrol has been operating in Kazakhstan since 2003 via its subsidiary Rompetrol Well Services that offers specialised services in the oil and gas sector. The subsidiary is based in Almaty and it owns operational bases in Akzhar, Alakol and Tasbulat.
