Banks, no longer dependent on foreign financing, says central bank official
AGERPRES - 16 Decembrie 2008
Banks' dependency on foreign financing from parent-banks will disappear, and in this situation the banks' appetite for granting long-term loans will be reconsidered, said Ion Dragulin, head of the Financial Stability Department with the Central Bank (BNR).
The SMEs sector might be considered a reasonable filed by banks, in terms of granting loans for investment, he explained.
'The SMEs will be important for banks. The fact that the banks' dependency on foreign financing will disappear, will trigger a restructuring of the assets portfolio, which implies a certain waiting period,' Dragulin underscored.
