RCA basic tariffs range between 264-871 lei
AGERPRES - Romanian News Agency - 23 Decembrie 2008
Basic tariffs for Compulsory Motor Third Party Liability Insurance (RCA) for 2009 have increased by more than one fifth on the entire market, though in case of some companies these have even doubled compared to 2008, the Business Standard informs on Monday.
The lowest tariff is 264 lei, namely some 66.78 euros, while the most expensive insurance policy can exceed 870 lei ( about 220 euros). Starting from basic tariffs, some companies offer bonuses for clients who suffered no damages in the previous years, while sanctioning those involved in accidents. For example, clients under 30, living in cities like Brasov, Cluj or Constanta, who damaged their cars twice in 2008, pay 1,307 lei (some 330.63 euros) for the 2009 RCA to the Generali insurer.
Eight of the 16 companies authorized to sell RCAs, namely Allianz-Tiriac, Asiban, Asirom, BCR Asigurari, BT Asigurari, Clal Romania, Generali, and OTP Garancia charge different tariffs, depending on the car's brand and risk profile and the beneficiary's place of residence, the Business Standard reads on.
Thus, the RCA policy for a Dacia Logan car with a cylinder capacity of 1,401-1,600 cubic centimeters costs 534 lei (some 135 euros) at Astra insurer, if the beneficiary is under 25 and signs the contract before Jan 15, 2009. Astra does not apply the bonus-malus system, which means that tariffs are not influenced by damages in the previous year.
'There are categories of potential clients for whom tariffs valid for 2009 increased by an average 10-20 percent at most, compared to 2008. This is the case of people younger than 30, residing in some of the larger cities, where the registered damage rate was higher than average in terms of the company's entire RCA portfolio,' the Business Standard concluded quoting Allianz-Tiriac PR Manager Marius Onofrei as saying.
