Excises to be calculated at 3.7364 lei for 1 euro, in 2009

Starting on Jan 1, 2009, excise duties to the state budget will be calculated at the exchange rate of 3.7364 lei for 1 euro, Finance Ministry sources say.

Excises have been calculated at the exchange rate of 3.3565 lei for 1 euro in 2008.In keeping with the Fiscal Code, excises are special taxes to the state budget on several domestic and imported products such as beer, wines, fermented beverages, others than beer and wine and intermediate products, ethylic alcohol, tobacco products and mineral oils.

The above said exchange rate is also used to calculate the car tax and the tax on the Romanian crude oil production due to the state budget, and also established in euro equivalent.
